San Diego Emergency Artists' Support League

San Diego E.A.S.L. is a sub-foundation of SYNERGY ART FOUNDATION, and was inspired by the work of the North Texas E.A.S.L. organization. In response to the 2003 firestorms, a group of San Diego artists and activists established Synergy Art Foundation in order to help artists in dire straits.

THE MISSION

The mission of San Diego E.A.S.L. is to provide limited emergency financial assistance to San Diego County's visual artists and visual arts professionals who are in desperate need because of a medical crisis, accident, fire or loss of personal and professional property.

The maximum annual grant is $1,000 per emergency or $3,000 for a major crisis. The E.A.S.L. fund is restricted to qualified artists who have lived in San Diego County for a minimum of two years, and who have a record of exhibitions and/or significant involvement in the arts community. Grants are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Abiding by a strict policy of respecting confidentiality, SD-E.A.S.L. will not reveal names of applicants or recipients if so requested.

E.A.S.L. has designated funding from SYNERGY ART FOUNDATION, and is operated by a volunteer steering committee so that maximum funds may be distributed to artists in need.

E.A.S.L. raises funds from individual donations and from arts events. Please join with SYNERGY ARTS FOUNDATION and support E.A.S.L. and our distinguished growing arts community. Giving to the E.A.S.L. fund is an important way for our Southern California community to sustain the arts by helping artists in crisis.
